How you´ll help us:

As a Technical Support Engineer, you will

Support customers by training, providing application engineering services and general technical consultancy in solar photovoltaic inverters, energy storage systems and EV chargers

Develop and maintain strong and synergetic relationships with key stakeholders in Solplanet´s distributor, installer and/or EPC network.

Collaborate with the sales teams to maintain customer relationships, gain customer trust and strengthen customer loyalty

Deliver online or onsite training to customers such as distributors and installers.

Establish and maintain knowledge of current and upcoming local regulatory requirements related to Solplanet products

Leverage your technical know-how and insight into the competitive landscape to proactively provide feedback/suggestions to Product Management to enhance Solplanet's product roadmap.

Work closely with Solplanet's service teams and service partners in EMEA to assist our customers in the after-sales phase.


 Requirements

 Your background and skills:


Bachelor or above technical degrees, preferably in electrical engineering, renewable energy, photovoltaic engineering, or similar disciplines. Proficient in local language and business  English.

In-depth knowledge of  technical requirements for photovoltaics, energy storage systems and electric vehicle chargers in the distribution and/or utility segment, including product specifications, grid code requirements , landscape competitiveness, bidding requirements,  etc.

Ability to work independently and focused in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Quick learner and desire to deepen knowledge in the field of renewable energy.

Previous professional experience in a photovoltaic-related industry is not essential but would be an advantage.  Your Attributes:

Developing briefs seeking approval for code equivalency.

Minimum requirements

BSc/BEng, or MSc/Meng, or BTech/MTech in Engineering

Experience gained in a consulting environment working on MEP Building Services

Duties & Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Organise/coordinates resources and priorities/ allocates / communicates tasks to achieve desired work output/targets.
  • Ensures maintenance contractors and colleagues understand the performance outcomes and standards. Trains/ ensures that users are properly trained to ensure optimal productivity.
  • Monitors progress on allocated work and takes timeous corrective action (where necessary).
  • Comply with company policies and procedures in the execution of Superior review delegated responsibilities and duties.
  • Identifies and reports performance problems and misconduct (user) to the relevant TCC manager.
  • Ensures users have access to the required standard.
  • Report and non-conformance to the TCC and direct line manager.
  • Checks and maintains data feed & recovery from the NATIS system.
  • Check and ensure the optimal use of electricity i.r.o IT & maintenance.
  • Report any system problems as soon as possible to direct supervisor and TCC Manager.
  • Regularly follow up on all RFS’s with relevant service providers & report any non-conformance(s) to LCC Operations manager.
  • Investigate any irregular situations where required maintenance may have been necessitated by suspect activity and/or negligence.
  • Communicate with the service providers in respect of task finalisation and/or issues arising.
  • Liaise with computer service providers/ other contractors i.r.o maintaining operations.
  • Ensures that all equipment comply with legal requirements and are maintained in terms of company’s operational procedures.
  • Inspect traffic control centre and associated facilities, including buildings and equipment, e.g., control systems, scale, and infrastructure in terms of agreed maintenance guidelines.
  • Identify possible areas that will require maintenance or replacement to prevent unexpected equipment failure.
  • Ensure all equipment comply with safety/health programme.
  • Attend meetings with immediate supervisor as and when required.
  • Support overall HR & financial management function.
  • Provide second line support to TCC junior technicians and overall management of the TCC technicians daily duties.
  • Advise on any possible change of operations due to system defectiveness.
  • Attend to system faults as entered the Fault Notification Book
  • Complete any administrative task, or any other work assigned from time to time.
  • Take responsibility for system training, mentoring, coaching and skills transfer.
  • Daily and weekly backups according to system engineers’ specifications
  • Ensure all systems (TRAFMAN, VMC, CCTV Monitoring systems) are virus free.
  • Configuration of IP addresses on the systems as well as maintaining IP address lists
  • Maintenance of the WAN / LAN / Wi-Fi connections

Desired Experience & Qualification

Employment Specification

  • Minimum Grade 12 Certificate
  • ICT, Computer/Software systems or Electronics or Electrical or Mechanical or Industrial systems
  • A+ and N+ Certification (requirement)
  • At least five (5) years IT related experience
  • Experience in Electrical Fault finding, troubleshooting and remote assistance.
  • Valid Unendorsed Code 08 Drivers License
  • Certificate of medical fitness.

The instrumentation technician 

is responsible for dedicating technical and operational systems support. The role holder will carry a legal appointment applicable to the role. Responsibilities include ensuring the maintenance and optimization of systems to ensure that the capacity of the production process is maximized. Employees in this position perform assignments of some complexity and generally requiring innovative ideas and complex instrumentation. Work involves performing skilled, technical work in the design, installation, testing, calibration, maintenance, and repair of process control, telemetry, and data acquisition systems and subsystems used in the provision of services to the production and engineering facilities of the plant. This will include planning and controlling activities in meeting the above requirements

  • Ensure the ISO system is up to date and correct.
  • Provide daily feedback to foreman and engineer.
  • Complete safety officer’s report.
  • Perform all duties instructed/required by supervisor which might not be related to job functions – if it is safe to do so.
  • Adhere to health, safety, and security regulations.
  • Ensure that good housekeeping is maintained.
  • Maintain and operate plant and equipment to eliminate unplanned delays. Respond to delays in a manner that will reduce the duration and impact on the plant.
  • Ability to find faults through the system, problem solving with or without drawings.

Experience 

 

  • National Diploma in Process instrumentation and Control
  • Valid driver’s license and own transport
  • Computer literate
  • PLC and SCADA training is preferable.
  • At least 3+ years’ post qualification experience as an instrumentation technician in a heavy industrial or mining environment.
  • Previous experience in maintaining instrumentation and process control equipment suchas level, pressure and flow measurements, scales, density, control loops, valves, and cylinders, etc.
  • Experience and ability to program, set up and commission PLC and SCADA systems
  • Experience in calibrations of various field instruments.
  • Working experience on Schneider PLCs, PL7 Pro and Unity software • Working experience on Adroit
  • Working experience in programming and fault finding with related to Profi-bus, Modbus and Device-net enthernet/IP and Asi Systems.
  • Experience with networks
  • Ability to read drawings and perform fault finding on circuits and control loops.
  • Ability to fault find and interface modern electrical control and communication equipment.
  • Previous experience with installation, basic set up and fault finding on variable speed drives and soft starters and interfacing electrical equipment with control and instrumentation systems.
  • Experience in performing statutory inspections on instrumentation plant and equipment.
