A junior journalist who will make a particular contribution to the newspaper's supplements has an exciting development opportunity at Die Burger. This position can be strengthened to have a greater role in editorial supplement management as the newspaper supplement offering grows.
The job entails:
As per production and operational needs and at the reasonable request of management, the newspaper's entire staff, but particularly the supplements and corporate content team, contributes editorially and in other ways. Among other things, this may include:
For instance, editorial and other initiatives pertaining to matric results and unique school events, such as the yearly Schools Guide and Matric supplement.
Writing articles for additional supplements, such as Jip, Motors, Gesond, Landbou, Eiendomme, and Versnit.
Editorial contributions to particular supplemental projects
Provide assistance with signing off on supplements if the editor is not there, and stand in for editors when they are not.
producing copy for the main newspaper at the request of news managers
Joining weekend teams
Establishing productive interactions with the readers and public and private organizations, as well as organizing events outside of regular business hours when required.
Representing the newspaper and its supplements in a respectable, ethical, and professional manner, both during and outside of business hours, at events and functions such as festivals, work sessions, etc., as well as expanding a network of contacts and knowledge
by creatively utilizing digital platforms, notably social media, to expand the readers' reach and generate opportunities for potential advertising revenue.
Developing article proposals to offer readers information that is interesting, helpful, and very relevant.
Further goals in this area could be:
If necessary, participation in the editorial oversight of supplements.
A well-rounded journalist is needed for the post, one who possesses:
News gathering experience
Exceptional writing abilities
Photography skills
A thorough understanding and proficiency in digital platforms, particularly social media
The capacity to adhere to a schedule in order to ensure that the material will be prepared, processed, and packaged in accordance with the agreed-upon timelines.
Initiative, effectiveness, and excitement that help produce content for Die Burger and its supplements overall.
In light of Media24's employment equity policy, preference will be given to qualified candidates from the specified groups.
A junior journalist who will primarily work on the newspaper's supplements will have an exciting opportunity for growth at Die Burger. As the newspaper's supplemental offering is modified, this position may be expanded to have a greater impact on the editorial supplemental management.
The job entails:
As directed by the operational and production needs and at the fair and reasonable request of management, contribute editorially and in other ways to all sections of the newspaper, particularly the supplement and business editorial sections. Among other things, this may include:
Editorial and other initiatives, such as the annual Skolegids and Matriekbylaag, centered on the matric results and unique school events;
Editing work for other supplements. This might include writing articles for Jip, Motors, Gesund, Landbouw, Eiendomme, and Versnit.
Add editorial direction to make special projects more useful;
Help draw up bylaws if the editor is absent, and serve as editor if none is available;
at the request of news editors, produce a lesser copy for the main newspaper;
Join weekend teams;
Establish efficient connections with readers, as well as public and private organizations, and foster productive relationships with pertinent people and institutions. This comprises, where necessary, na-ure operations;
At events and functions like workshops, festivals, etc., both during and after business hours, represent the newspaper and its supplements in a manner that is credible, professional, and ethical. establish a strong network of contacts and knowledge;
By making innovative use of digital platforms, particularly social media, expand that audience footprint and generate opportunities for potential advertising revenue.
Create manuscript proposals that will generate material that is really helpful, engaging, and/or valuable to readers.
In this region, examples of stretch marks would include:
If the occasion calls for it, get involved with the editorial management of appendices.
A versatile journalist is needed for the position, one with:
experience in gathering news;
exceptional writing abilities;
good photography skills;
strong understanding of digital platforms, especially social media, and proficiency in their use;
the capacity to arrange things strategically so that within the agreed-upon deadlines, content may be delivered, processed, and packaged on time;
ingenuity, thoroughness, and enthusiasm in support of the overall content of Die Burger and its supplements.

Internship Programme

The Vodacom Internship programme is a 12 month fixed term contract which provides workplace experience underpinned by a carefully designed training programme.
