Job Description
For its Bophelomed location, Dis-Chem Pharmacies needs the expertise of a respected pharmacist. By accepting responsibility for patients' medicine-related needs and being accountable for meeting those needs, your portfolio will address the delivery of pharmaceutical care.
At the Very Least:
Necessary:
Matric/Grade 12
The equivalent of a BPharm degree
licensed by the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC)
At least two to three years experience in pharmaceuticals
retail pharmacy experience of 2-3 years (student/intern)
Proficient in computers, including MS Office
Beneficial:
pertinent retail/FMCG experience
A third language
expertise in SAP
experience with e-scripting
Listed tutor
The Unisolv experience
Obligations and Responsibilities:
Taking ownership of patients' medication-related requirements and being responsible for meeting them, which will include, but not be limited to, the following tasks, is how pharmaceutical treatment is provided:
determining the indication, safety, and effectiveness of therapy to evaluate a patient's medication-related requirements
The prescription of a person permitted to prescribe medicine is used to dispense any medication or planned substance.
In accordance with GPP 2.7.1.2.1.f, all prescriptions written by an assistant or intern are signed off and checked, and responsibility for their accuracy is accepted.
Providing advice and information to anyone about how to use medication
Monitoring patient adherence to the treatment, and following up to make sure the patient's medication-related needs are being met
The provision of treatment initiated by a pharmacist
The compounding, manipulation, manufacture, or packaging of any medication or scheduled drug, as well as the supervision of such activities
The creation or oversight of any regulated material or medication
The supervision of the purchase, acquisition, importation, maintenance, possession, use, release, storage, packaging, repackaging, distribution, or sale of any medication or controlled substance
The application to register a drug in compliance with the Pharmacy Act and Medicines Act
The laws specifically pertaining to the profession of a pharmacist, as described above;
The creation of a drug for the purpose of registering it as a medicine;
the distribution of any drug or regulated material;
The repackaging of pharmaceuticals;
The start and management of research and development in the pharmaceutical industry; and
The promotion of population health.
Act professionally, responsibly, and in accordance with the law as directed by the South African Pharmaceutical Council, and interpret scripts correctly.
Verify the patient's information on the system and take careful notes of the script details.
Be aware of frequent dosages and significant medication interactions, and make sure that the medicine is picked, packed, labeled, and inspected properly.
Give patients precise directions on how to use the medications given to them.
Stay current with developments in medical aid procedures as well as the standards for claims and distribution.
Provide help and advice to patients in the front store, at the dispensary, and at the self-medication counter.
As requested by the dispensary manager, follow up with patients about the script tracking report and subsequent appointments.
Tell patients about all expenses related to medical care.
Keep your word to your clients.
Assess disease states and refer to in-store health facilities as needed.
Handle all documentation needed to submit claims to medical assistance in the proper way.
Fix mistakes in scripts turned down by medical assistance.
Make sure that medications for cancer, HIV, AIDS, and chronic conditions are authorized.
Keep client information up to date in the system.
Notify Vexall to combine profiles centrally, and combine profiles locally.
Pay attention to any messages on the customer profile and act accordingly.
Help the dispensary manager to make sure that all administrative procedures are done correctly and on schedule.
The dispensary manager should be notified of any mistakes or low/out-of-stock amounts.
Make Bi-annual stock counts easier.
Maintain control over assets, cash, and exercise stock.
Help the Dispensary Manager make sure that all registers are maintained in accordance with the law and that all stock control procedures are followed.
Housekeeping should adhere to Dis-Chem guidelines.
Follow the Standard Operating Procedures and the guidelines and practices of Dis-Chem.
Follow all health and safety laws and guidelines.
Comply with the uniform and personal appearance regulations of Dis-Chem.
