The Data Platform Engineering Manager is the supervisor of this position.
By establishing consistent delivery and change management of data, data models, and associated artifacts, our DataOps Team aims to provide value more quickly. With suitable levels of governance, DataOps uses technology to automate the creation, deployment, and management of data delivery. It also employs metadata to increase the usability and value of data in a changing environment. Takealot is expanding rapidly, presenting a number of intriguing and uncommon difficulties. There is a lot of room to influence the data culture, tools, and technologies in the business because data is expanding rapidly inside the company.

Chef manages virtual servers, while Terraform manages Cloud Infrastructure.
Manage and optimize Cloudsql instances in the Google Cloud Platform
developing and implementing systems for metrics, monitoring, and logging
Kafka, Kubernetes, and other operations
CI/CD build systems to guarantee that our teams can release often and securely
Code review and administration
strengthening servers and integrating security into the platform.
Creating automation, sometimes utilizing AI, so that we may concentrate on the difficult issues
The implementation of features, technologies, and procedures that advance us toward industry best practices, enhance scalability, efficiency, dependability, and security.

Experience and Credentials
At least three years of DataOps expertise in a software/technology setting, along with a bachelor's degree or advanced diploma in information systems, computer science, mathematics, or engineering, are prerequisites.
A candidate must fulfill an equivalent experience requirement, which is at least six years of DataOps experience in a software/technology environment, if they do not hold a bachelor's degree or an advanced diploma in mathematics, computer science, information systems, or engineering.
Knowing the basics of computer science, such as networking, operating systems, and Linux.
A strong understanding of the foundations of development, including algorithms and data structures
capable of writing code (ideally in Python)
Experience using open source relational database systems such MySQL and PostgreSQL
Having practical experience with additional database systems, such as BigQuery, Redis, and ElasticSearch, would be advantageous.
Has worked with Kafka, PubSub, or other event-based platforms
has prior experience with Google Cloud or another cloud vendor (architecture, operations).
Understands the costs and effects of scaling
Has experience managing Kubernetes Clusters (certificates, users, kubeadm, kubectl, etc.).
has a thorough understanding of networking (tcp/ip, calico/weave, vlans, tcpdump, routing, etc.).
Has a thorough understanding of Linux, including kernel tuning, proc filesystem, cgroups, OS scheduling, and more.
Has experience using Build Systems (Jenkins, Gitlab, Spinnaker).
Has a good grasp of networking (TCP, UDP, IP).
Linux administration (Processes, Networking, Storage, Security) experience
Has experience with a minimum of one configuration management system (Chef, Puppet, Ansible).
