About Us

The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SOC) Limited ("The SABC"), which was founded in August 1936, is a public broadcaster (described as a "major public entity" in Schedule 2 of the Public Finance Management Act No. 1 of 1999, or "PFMA") with the responsibility of informing, educating, and entertaining the South African public. The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa ("ICASA") Regulations and license conditions, which provide five television channels and 18 radio stations, are based on the statute known as The Broadcasting Act (The Act), and they contain the requirements placed on the SABC.
